An EU co-funded event was organized in Tunis regarding migration issues in Libya and the Mediterranean region

The Academia Conference on “Promoting Knowledge for Evidence-based and Sustainable Migration Governance in Libya – The Mediterranean Perspective” took place in Tunis from 25 to 27 June 2018. This event was co-organised by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), the EU Delegation to Libya and the Libyan Government of National Accord’s National Team for Border Security and Management.

The event gathered over 90 participants and was organised in the framework of the ICMPD project “Strategic and institutional management of migration in Libya”.

The general objective of this conference was to debate the state of play of research on migration issues in Libya and the Mediterranean region. The conference also aims to bring together Libyan researchers and their counterparts in the region to share views, in the presence of policy makers.

ICMPD is an international organisation with 17 Member States, over 200 staff members, a mission in Brussels and regional offices and representatives throughout Europe, Northern Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. ICMPD receives funding from its Member States, the European Commission, the UN and other multilateral institutions, as well as bilateral donors. ICMPD holds UN observer status and cooperates with more than 200 partners including EU institutions and UN agencies.
