The Delegation’s main objectives were to hold the 11th Inter-parliamentary Meeting with the Jordanian counterparts amid a critical situation in the region due to the ongoing war in Gaza as well as to assess the current political, economic and social modernisation agenda of the country with various meetings with key members of the Jordanian executive, representatives of civil society and with field visits.
During the 11th IPM the Delegation and the Jordanian Parliament reconfirmed, with a sincere dialogue, their solid partnership and expressed their political will to further strengthen their cooperation and ties allowing to build a common agenda for a comprehensive dialogue over the coming years. The discussions with the Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee focused on various political, institutional, social and economic matters.
The Delegation stressed its deep concern about the ongoing war in Gaza and of its impact on the whole region. Members underlined the urgent need to stop immediately this devastating war and to allow access to humanitarian aid to the population of Gaza, stressing that the large majority of the EU Member States voted in favour of an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the UN General Assembly.
