The EU Delegation to Algeria (EUD) is taking part in the 24th edition of Algiers International Book Fair (SILA) from 31 October to 9 November at the “Palais des Expositions”. It is interesting to mention that the 11th Meeting of Euro-Maghreb Writers is to be held on 2 November on the EUD stand. Eight European and Algerian writers will exchange and debate on the role of writing in exercising one’s citizenship.
This participation coincides with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of EU presence in Algeria. The first official representation was inaugurated in July 1979. As such, a photo exhibition retracing the history of EU/Algeria relations and the impact of four decades of cooperation is to discover.
The intense programme of the event will also include thematic encounters around the issues of social innovation, local development, citizen participation and intercultural dialogue.
In partnership with UNICEF Algeria, the first of November will be devoted to the children, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the International Convention of Children Rights, whereas the students will be at the centre of a special day, on 9 November, with the presentation of scholarship opportunities offered in the framework of EU programmes (Erasmus+ and College of Europe).
