EU-EGYPT: € 200 million for Cairo metro, loaned by EIB

The EU will contribute to promote the public transport in Greater Cairo, according to a statement from the EIB dated 24 December.
“The Arab Republic of Egypt and the European Investment Bank (EIB) today signed a loan agreement worth EUR 200 million for financing a project to promote public transport in Greater Cairo.”
EIB’s lending activities in the Mediterranean region in general are based on a Mandate from the European Union to support socioeconomic development in the country.
