The EU Co-ordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support (EUPOL COPPS) and the Palestinian Bar Association (PBA) supported a three-day training session for 25 Palestinian female lawyers on leadership. The event, which was concluded on Thursday 19 June 2019, was delivered by a renowned leadership specialist Fathi Marshoud, who provided the participants with the needed professional skills and knowledge to be able to take a leading role in their career.
The workshop left a very positive impact for the participants and helped them discover the innate leadership traits. “I was thinking of quitting being a lawyer but the exchange of experiences with other female lawyers gave me the strength to decide I will continue my work,” said one trainee.
The workshop would empower female lawyers and encourage them to be engaged in the decision making process of the PBA.
There are 5,087 Palestinian lawyers registered at PBA and about one third of them are female lawyers, quite a substantial percentage in comparison to other institutions.
EUPOL COPPS is the European Union Co-ordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support. The aim of the Mission is to contribute to the establishment of sustainable and effective policing arrangements and to advise Palestinian counterparts on criminal justice and rule of law related aspects under Palestinian ownership.
