In the presence of Mr. Azzedine El Midaoui, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, the European Union Ambassador to Morocco, Ms. Patricia Llombart Cussac, hosted a ceremony on July 8, 2025, at her residence in Rabat, honoring the 23 excellence scholarship recipients admitted to the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Program. The event was also attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, academia, civil society, and Erasmus+ alumni.
This ceremony marked a significant moment: the 10th anniversary of the implementation of the Erasmus+ program in Morocco, which continues to strengthen ties between Moroccan and European youth. Selected for their academic excellence, potential, and commitment, these students will pursue their studies at renowned universities in Europe and beyond. They will pursue joint degrees in at least three different countries, illustrating the global reach of the Erasmus+ program.
This year’s scholarship recipients will pursue their studies in countries such as Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Sweden, as well as outside the European Union, notably in Switzerland, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States. Their fields of study cover diverse disciplines such as science, smart cities, climate change, social sciences, didactics, political science, and criminology. The Class of 2025 is composed of 13 young women and 10 young men from several cities in Morocco. Two international students from Togo and Somalia, who continued their studies in Morocco, are also among the winners.
The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree, a cornerstone of the Erasmus+ program, offers students an excellent, multicultural academic experience, strengthening their skills and international networks. Since 2015, more than 180 Moroccan students have enrolled in Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degrees in various fields. Despite a highly efficient selection process, their number continues to grow year after year, a sign of the popularity of these Master’s degrees in Morocco and the growing interest of Moroccan youth in this flagship program.
