EU Police Mission Chief in Palestine meets Head of Interim High Judicial Council

The Head of the EU Police and Rule of Law (EUPOL COPPS) Mission Mr. Kauko Aaltomaa held an introductory meeting this week with the newly appointed Head of the Interim High Judicial Council, Chancellor Issa Abu Sharar and discussed mutual cooperation to further enhance the independence of the Judiciary.
Mr. Aaltoma presented the planned activities for the new 2019-2020 mandate cycle of the Mission, which includes a number of projects that would ultimately enhance the independence of the judiciary and the competences of judges.

EUPOL COPPS is the European Union Co-ordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support. The aim of the Mission is to contribute to the establishment of sustainable and effective policing arrangements and to advise Palestinian counterparts on criminal justice and rule of law related aspects under Palestinian ownership.
