EU Representative Alexandre Stutzmann visited Tulkarm on 20 August, where he met with Governor Mustafa Taqatqa and Mayor Dr. Riyad Awad. The visit was a demonstration of the EU’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, particularly in addressing the pressing political and economic challenges faced by the city.
During the discussions, Representative Stutzmann reiterated the EU’s unwavering support for a two-state solution, emphasizing the importance of preserving the viability of such a solution in the face of increasing Israeli settlement activities.
The visit also included a tour of the Tulkarem Museum and Al Saraya with the Ministry of Tourism featuring the history and heritage of Tulkarm. The visit was concluded at Quffeen where the Representative met farmers in their lands significantly affected by Israeli restrictions on access to land and resources.
