The European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP), now open to beneficiaries of the southern Mediterranean region, has developed an online course on combating violence against women and domestic violence. It was launched on 25-26 November in Rabat, Morocco.

Organised in collaboration with the Higher Institute of the Judiciary and the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Morocco, this event marks the launch of this cross-border course on violence against women and domestic violence, involving partners from Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Egypt and Palestine.

This course addresses in an interactive manner the key concepts, the international and European legal framework, in particular the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention), as well as the case law governing the prevention and protection of women and girls who are victims of violence.

The online course is already available in English on the HELP online platform and will be available in Arabic in spring 2020.

The European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) supports the Council of Europe member states in implementing the European Convention on Human Rights (the Convention) at the national level.
