The partnership and strategy for the years to come were on the agenda of the EU-Tunisia Association Committee, held on 20 and 21 April at the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tunis. The official meeting was preceded by a tripartite consultation with representatives of Tunisian civil society.
Both sides stressed that the EU-Tunisia partnership is part of a strategic relationship. They welcomed the strengthening of the privileged partnership and the significant and gradual increase in the bilateral budget for cooperation since the 2011 revolution.
Significant bilateral agreements already signed or under negotiation in the areas of trade, aviation, research, culture and migration have been reviewed. A joint reflection has been launched on deepening cooperation in the years to come – in particular in order to further support the Tunisian youth and to revive the growth of the Tunisian economy.
The Association Committee allowed the preparation of the upcoming Association Council to be held on 11 May in Brussels.
