The 3rd EU–Tunisia Cooperation Committee Meeting, hosted by the Commission, served as a key platform to deepen the partnership between the European Union and Tunisia in the field of research and innovation. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in the European Innovation Council, European Research Council, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, and the Joint Research Centre. Discussions also underscored the mutual benefits of the Horizon Europe Association Agreement, highlighting access to advanced research networks, joint projects tackling global challenges, and the promotion of scientific excellence.

Tunisia’s impressive track record in Horizon 2020 continues to grow in Horizon Europe. In Horizon 2020, Tunisia participated in 97 projects across 75 grants, securing a total of €13.2 million. This momentum continues in Horizon Europe, with 70 participations in 52 grants securing €13 million to date. This trend is expected to rise as further grants are currently in preparation. The participants reviewed past achievements, assessed ongoing projects, and explored new avenues to sustain and expand this success. The meeting also highlighted how this collaboration aligns with broader regional initiatives such as the Union for the Mediterranean, PRIMA, BlueMed, and collaborative efforts with Africa.
