EU Co-ordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support (EUPOL COPPS) concluded an extensive training on Fair Trial for Palestinian Bar Association in six West Bank districts to further enhance the capabilities of 163 Palestinian lawyers on Fair Trial, including 65 female lawyers.

The sessions in the districts of Bethlehem, Nablus, Jenin, Tubas, Tulkarm and Hebron started in February and were concluded in October.

The method of the training has been to introduce participants – both practitioners and trainees – to various criminal cases. The training which was delivered by EUPOL COPPS, touched upon several topics such as the right to a counsel in the early stages of a criminal investigation and on the right of the accused to be informed of the charges in the beginning of the preliminary investigation or the setting of some other hearing, which gives rise to a clear official suspicion against the accused.
