The Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation is organising a meeting from 24-26 October in Casablanca, Morocco, to strengthen the role of local and regional civil society associations in the preparation of European and Euro-Mediterranean policies in favour of the rights of women and gender equality in the Southern Mediterranean.
The dialogue will be held as part of the EU-funded ‘CSO WINS’ project (Capacity-Building in the Southern Mediterranean to Open Policy Dialogue and Monitoring for Women in Society).
The Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue is conceived as a space for dialogue between 36 associations engaged in favour of women’s rights, European and Euro-Mediterranean policy makers, and other international stakeholders and organizations active in the field of gender equality in the Southern Mediterranean.
The objective of this regional dialogue is to strengthen the role of associations in the planning, implementation and monitoring of European and Euro-Mediterranean policies related to women’s rights and gender equality in the Southern Mediterranean.
In concrete terms, the meeting aims at:
• Communicating on the advocacy campaigns and the peer-learning exchanges which were carried out in the framework of the CSO WINS project.
• Updating the associations on the mechanisms of dialogue with the civil society of the southern Mediterranean in the field of gender equality.
• Sharing successful experiences of advocating in favor of gender equality at national and regional level.
• Presenting the associations’ prospects to achieve a significant impact on the situation of women in the future (women’s access to political responsibilities; fight against child marriage; economic empowerment of women; promotion of a culture of equality…).
