The EuroMeSCo Annual Conference 2018 “Changing Euro-Mediterranean Lenses” will be held on 12-13 July in Rabat. The event will be co-organised by OCP Policy Center.

In Euro-Mediterranean fora, the focus is most often on the state of the South and South East part of the Mediterranean and its impact of its political, economic and security situation on the European Union. The EuroMeSCo Annual Conference will gather high level policymakers and researchers to challenge this prevailing approach and analyse how recent developments in Europe affect the southern shore of the Mediterranean and more generally Euro-Mediterranean relations. Similarly, Euro-Mediterranean policies are too often understood as policies of the European Union towards the Southern Mediterranean. This conference will look at policies and strategies developed by southern Mediterranean countries vis-à-vis the EU and other partners.

In this context, we invite researchers from the EuroMeSCo network to submit paper proposals to be presented at parallel working sessions of the conference.

We invite papers addressing one of the three following topics/questions:

  • Is Europe Exporting Instability to the Southern Mediterranean?
  • Is Europe a Priority for Southern Mediterranean Partners?
  • Revitalising Euro-Mediterranean Relations

The deadline to submit proposals is 10 May 2018. Paper proposals should not exceed 350 words.

A Jury, formed for this purpose by the members of the Steering Committee and of the EuroMeSCo ENI Project consortium, will select a maximum of 6 paper proposals. Notification of approval will be sent by 25 May.
