A senior delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Board of Directors has begun a visit to Morocco on Monday to gather first-hand experience of the country’s economic and political development.

The four-day visit will provide shareholder representatives with the opportunity to meet senior government, business and diplomatic representatives as well as international partners and civil society organisations. The EBRD Board Directors will also visit private and public projects financed by the Bank in Kenitra and Tangiers.

The visit is part of a regular series of consultations that enable EBRD Directors to witness priorities for the local economy and to maintain close dialogue with the authorities and the private sector.

Since the start of its engagement in Morocco in 2012, the EBRD has invested over €1.9 billion in 55 projects that also include the financing of sustainable energy and infrastructure and the provision of business advice to more than 550 Moroccan SMEs to date.
