On 3 October 2018, the Euromed University of Fes received more than 13 million euros in funding from the European Union via the European Investment Bank (EIB) to assist in building and outfitting the eco-campus.

Funding agreements were signed between the European Union (EU), the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the Euromed University of Fes on 3 October. Students and members of the university’s teaching staff were also invited to participate in an event in Fes, where they had the opportunity to discuss the Neighbourhood Policy and the ties between Europe and its southern neighbours.

This European funding is part of an innovative mechanism, the Neighbourhood Investment Platform (NIP). One of the NIP’s objectives is to mobilise additional funding to finance key infrastructure projects in the form of grants that act as a supplement to loans granted by European financial institutions.
