The EU-funded SwitchMed programme is organising eight public events between now and the end of the year, aimed at enabling investors to understand projects and meet their teams. The events – “Green Startups Meet Investors – Elevator pitch” – respond to the demand from green entrepreneurs to access financial support for their ideas.

The events, which will last half a day and will gather 10/15 Green Entrepreneurs, will include an elevator pitch, followed by one-to-one interviews, depending on the interest shown by the professionals (investors/companies) invited to take part.

The Elevator Pitches follow local capacity building sessions where the entrepreneurs will be supported to understand the stages of the investment process, to improve their communication capacities and to prepare their business to be evaluated by the financial players.

In addition, there will be an ad hoc post elevator pitch support in the aftermath of the events, with feedback offered to green entrepreneurs on the strengths and weaknesses of their project submission and monitoring of the contacts made with the investors.

The first event took place in Jordan on 29 July, followed by an event in Egypt today, 3 August. Further events will take place in Tunisia, Palestine, Morocco and Algeria in September, Israel in October, and Lebanon in November.

The SwitchMed sustainable consumption and production programme aims to promote a switch by the Mediterranean economies towards sustainable consumption and production patterns and green economy, including low-emission development, through demonstration and dissemination of methods that improve resource and energy efficiency. It also seeks to minimise the environmental impacts associated with the life cycle of products and services and, where possible, to promote renewable energy.
