Centered on police-prosecution cooperation, the EU-supported four-day visit to Finland on 22 August shows the special attention paid by the Palestinian authorities to the cooperation among Police, Prosecutors and Judges in the criminal procedure.

The Palestinian participants were interested to get an insight on the Finnish model of strategic and operational level of cooperation between the police and prosecution and inter-institutional justice and security sector cooperation. A lot of discussion took place on the ways to ensure a smooth cooperation between those different entities from Executive and Judicial powers.

During the visit, the Palestinian delegation met the Finnish Minister of the Interior Ms. Maria Ohisalo, the Prosecutor General Ms. Raija Toiviainen, the National Police Commissioner Mr. Seppo Kolehmainen, and the Director of the National Bureau of Investigation Mr. Robin Lardot.

The Palestinian delegation included Chief of Police Major General Mr. Hazem Attallah, Attorney General Mr. Akram Al-Khatib and the Head of the Supreme Court Prosecution Unit Mr. Mohammed Khalil. The Mission was represented by its head Kauko Aaltomaa and Jari-Pekka Paajala, EUPOL COPPS’ prosecution expert.
