To celebrate Mediterranean Day on 28 November 2025, we invite everyone across the region to take part in a unique, participatory initiative that turns the Mediterranean´s shared spirit into sound: We need to talk, Mediterranean in music!
Mediterranean Day is an initiative of the Union for the Mediterranean, celebrated every year on 28 November to promote intercultural exchange, cooperation, and a shared Mediterranean identity. This year’s theme, We need to talk, Mediterranean, is an open invitation to reflect on what we share, what we hope for, and how we can shape the future together.
It is about:
In response to this call for dialogue, Interreg NEXT MED transforms the conversation into music, a universal language that crosses borders and connects hearts. The initiative invites people from across the Mediterranean to share a song that represents what the Mediterranean means to them: its rhythm, dreams, diversity, or resilience.
Through a participative campaign on Instagram and Facebook, users can comment with their favourite Mediterranean songs or respond to interactive Stories. The most liked and geographically diverse contributions will be featured in the official Mediterranean Playlist, curated by the Interreg NEXT MED team. Each song will symbolize a voice, a story, a connection together forming a collective portrait of the Mediterranean through music.
The official playlist, We need to talk, Mediterranean, will be released on Spotify on 28 November 2025, accessible to everyone. Follow the campaign from 18 to 28 November on our social media channels and discover the collective playlist on Spotify on Mediterranean Day.
