TunisiaIsrael: EU takes part in World Summit on Counter-terrorism
European Commissioner for the Security Union, Sir Julian King, addressed the World Summit on Counter-terrorism held by the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism at IDC Herzilya, Israel on 10 September remarking: “The EU can only address the terrorist threat by joining our efforts and applying a proactive and preventive rather than a purely reactive approach. This involves cutting off terrorists’ resources, both human and financial; removing their space to operate, while protecting our citizens and infrastructure; tackling underlying factors facilitating their radicalisation; and strengthening society’s resilience by riding their propaganda from the web and ensuring companies play a more acting role in detecting such content.”
