Jordan and the EU have committed to cooperating “to strengthen their partnership in the prevention of the violent extremism”. On Monday 22 February 2016, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which “seeks to improve and increase their dialogue on policies, cooperation and the exchange of expertise as a way to promote the values of peace and tolerance through a support program”, the European Delegation to Jordan said in a statement on its website.

Under this agreement, the EU will support Jordan in its efforts to counter extremism and violence and “will also assist civil society (…) to prevent this phenomenon through engagement with young people and communities”, added the EU Delegation.
