For the third consecutive year, the Jordan Breast Cancer Programme (JBCP) conducted several activities, including the Training-of-Trainers (TOTs) workshops for a group of community-based female activists, volunteers and health workers in Al Tafilah governorate, as part of the EU Support for Civil Society Organizations Project.

The six-day TOT workshops aimed at building the participants’ capacities through training on several health topics related to non-communicable diseases control, including cancer through focusing on risk factors, prevention practices, and on raising awareness about breast cancer. The training emphasized the importance of educating women about their health rights, while stressing the importance of their financial and economic independence and their role in influencing decisions – particularly the ones related to their health. The training also included discussions of topics related to leadership and gender.

JBCP is a national program, established in 2007 to coordinate and lead breast cancer early detection and screening national efforts, providing screening services to Jordanian women, and raising public awareness about breast cancer.
