Key Decisions on Second Call for Proposals to be Taken at Forthcoming Interreg NEXT MED Monitoring Committee Meeting

The second meeting of the Interreg NEXT MED Monitoring Committee is set to take place on July 17-18, 2024, in Athens. The Monitoring Committee (MC) is the decision-making of the Programme, chaired by the Region of Sardinia in its capacity as Managing Authority, and is composed by delegates from the 15 countries participating in the Programme, as well as the representatives of the European Commission’s DG for regional and urban policy (REGIO).

 

During the meeting, critical decisions will be made regarding the second call for proposals, specifically aimed at supporting cooperation projects for the green transition in the Mediterranean. The Monitoring Committee will discuss and approve the Managing Authority’s proposals concerning specific objectives, budget allocation, evaluation criteria, project types, and main participation rules. The second call for proposals is expected to be launched in the second half of the year.

 

Other items to be reviewed during the MC meeting include:
– The submission results and the current state of the evaluation process of the first call for proposals, closed on May 30, 2024 with an extraordinary response of over 630 applications;- The financial plan for the Programme’s Technical Assistance budget;
– the 2024-2025 Activity and Information and Communication Plans;
– the 2024-2025 Action Plan for the Interreg multi-programme coordination mechanism;
– the outcomes and main recommendations from the final evaluation of the ENI CBC MED Programme.
– The future perspectives of Interreg programmes in the post-2027 period based on the preliminary outcomes of the stakeholder consultation.
