“The Green start-ups meet investors” event successfully took place the 27th of November 2017 in the vibrant location of Beirut Digital District.
The SwitchMed Programme in partnership with Fondation Diane, accompanied 8 Green Entrepreneurs to pitch their eco-innovative idea in front a 4 highly experts providing Impact Investing in Lebanon.
The Jury was composed by Ms. Diane Fadel, Founder & president of Fondation Diane, Ms. Corine Kiame, Investment manager in IM Capital, a financing institution that provides Matching Capital, Equity Guarantee, and Support Programs to a varied of qualified early-stage business and investors in Lebanon, Ms. Michelle Mouradacade, Lebanon Country Director of Alfanar, the first Arabventure philanthropy Organization and Mr. Fadi Naffah, Program Manager in Agrytech.
A broadrange of startups stood in front of the jury. IT applied to the waste management and public transportation, to eco construction services, up cycling of plastic bottles and organic farm were the areas covered by the companies show cased and that arrived at the event after a capacity building path offered by the SwitchMed programme.
The SwitchMed sustainable consumption and production programme aims to promote a switch by the Mediterranean economies towards sustainable consumption and production patterns and green economy, including low-emission development, through demonstration and dissemination of methods that improve resource and energy efficiency. It also seeks to minimise the environmental impacts associated with the life cycle of products and services and, where possible, to promote renewable energy.
