Libya: EU funded city profiling programme to help evaluate crisis impact on population

The United Nations Population Fund – Libya (UNFPA) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) have recently presented the recommendations and key findings of the “Rapid City Profiling & Monitoring System for Libya” that they have jointly carried out. Six Libyan city were targeted: Benghazi ,Sirte, Janzour, Al Kufra , Awbari and Sebha .
Funded by the European Union under the Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace, the Rapid City Profiling and Monitoring System Programme is implemented jointly by UN-HABITAT and UNFPA, in collaboration with the Libyan Ministry of Planning, The Bureau of Statistics and Census, the Urban Planning agency and the respective municipalities, and in close coordination with relevant ministries, UN Agencies, and international and national NGOs.

The project aimed at establishing a comprehensive Urban Information and Analysis framework based on indicators linked to public basic services, local economy, living standards and perceptions.
