From 10 to 12 June, 18 regulatory staff from 10 different Energy Regulatory Authorities members of MEDREG participated in Milan to a 3-day-training organised by MEDREG on the topic of the Scope and Role of Regulation. Through interactive lectures given by energy regulators, academics and professional from energy companies, this training considered and provided answers to the main questions that characterise the debate on regulatory institutional framework and competences, dealing with the different existing alternatives to regulate the electricity and gas sectors.
This course offered a comprehensive and up-to-date view on the regulatory models that can govern electricity and gas markets and illustrated the pros and cons of each of them. The course balanced theory with practical case studies as well as a group work, enabling participants to get to know each other better and create lasting relationships as regulatory peers of the Mediterranean.
