“The southern shores of the Mediterranean are among the world’s most water-scarce, with over 150 million people affected”, the Union for Mediterranean (UfM) noted on World Water Day, on Tuesday 22 March 2016.

The UfM’s main message on this day is the need for better integration and better water resources in the Mediterranean. The objective should be more water and better jobs through enhanced cooperation and integration, as sources of more human development and stability in the Mediterranean. To this end, the UfM has announced that it will “implement 15 projects specifically on sustainable development, representing close to EUR 4 billion in investments for the region”.
