Karin Limdal, a Swedish national with two decades of experience working in the field of peace and security, has been appointed as the new Head of Mission of EUPOL COPPS in Ramallah. She is succeeding Nataliya Apostolova taking up duties from 1 April 2024 to 30 June 2024. Ms. Limdal will be the first Swedish woman ever to lead a CSDP mission.
Before joining EUPOL COPPS as its DHoM/CoS in October 2023, and shortly after becoming its Acting HoM, she was the Head of Sector for Political Content and Focus Management at the European Centre of Excellence for Civilian Crisis Management in Berlin. She also worked as a Senior Capability Development Planner and as a Strategic Planner in the field of EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) in the EEAS in Brussels. She held positions in several CSDP missions including EUPOL COPPS, the EU Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX Kosovo), and the EU Planning Team for Kosovo.
Ms Limdal is no stranger to the region nor to EUPOL COPPS. She worked for the mission already 2012-2013 as well as twice for the Temporary International Presence in the West Bank city of Hebron.
“ In those difficult times, me and my team will do our best to assist the Palestinian Authority in strengthening its institutions, focusing on security and justice sector reform, to deliver effective services to its citizens” Ms Limdal said.
