The OPEN Media Hub is launching a new online course on The Principles of Media Company Management. The author of the course is Eamonn Byrne, senior director of The Byrne Partners Ltd, a UK based media development and consultancy company. Previously Eamonn was a director of national and regional newspaper operations in the UK (Scotland). From 2002 -2012 he was Deputy Director General and Business Director of the prestigious WAN and WAN-IFRA, the global association for News Publishers.
This free and self-paced course provides an overview of the basic principles of organising and running a small to medium sized media company. It focuses on the business aspects of the media providing participants with practical skills on how to plan and run an efficient media organisation taking into account the realities of the different media markets and the challenges media face with securing sufficient financial means to operate independently and produce content of high professional standard.
The OPEN Media Hub project, funded under the OPEN Neighbourhood Programme, aims at creating a virtual media hub spanning the EU’s two neighbourhood regions – south and east – in order to contribute to the development of independent media and to a more accurate presentation of EU policies, through the creation of a network of journalists. It provides skills to journalists and media managers through the fostering of professional networks, the provision of hands-on workshops, of journalist exchanges and support to audio-visual and online production.
