The Safir project, co-funded by the European Union, will implement actions to support innovative social entrepreneurship in favour of Southern Mediterranean youth. The project will be deployed as early as March 2020 in seven countries: Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan. It will also involve nationals of Libya and Syria. Its total budget amounts to €6.25 million over four years.

Safir is an extension as well as a profound transformation of the SafirLab project launched by the French Institute and CFI in 2012. It is based on the fact that a sustainable civic engagement of youth from Southern neighbourhood countries goes hand in hand with their economic and social inclusion.

In the framework of Safir, CFI will support young entrepreneurs who are willing to develop projects in the media sector. Fifteen media projects will be selected and will benefit from a financial support.
