The story of the young Polish Bartłomiej Juszczak, which reflects the life and work expectations of young people and their hope for a better future, has been awarded as the best of the 2019 edition of the Euro-Mediterranean literary contest “A Sea of Words”. The Invisible has been chosen by the international jury of the contest as the best among the 246 received in this edition. The Tunisian author Khamsa Kharabi came second with “Living in a Beehive”.
Bartłomiej Juszczak and Khamsa Kharabi participated with young writers and illustrators from Lebanon, Tunisia, France, Syria, Poland, Egypt, Greece, Jordan, Latvia and the Netherlands in the dialogue “Youth creators transforming the Mediterranean”, this week in Barcelona, Spain.
Convened every year since 2008 by the IEMed and the Anna Lindh Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures, the contest “A Sea of Words” is aimed at people between 18 and 30 years old from the 43 countries of the Euro-Mediterranean region. The winning stories of each edition are published in anthologies.
