Following the ELE WG meeting held on 1 October in Athens, MEDREG held a study visit for its southern and eastern shore member countries to explore the development of decentralized production, self-consumption of electricity and electric mobility.

Kindly hosted by our Greek member, the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Waste and Water (RAAEY), the participants deepened their knowledge of the licencing framework for RES and storage technologies. They also learned about the incentives for EV infrastructure development and technological and financial support for RES and EV integration in Greece.

The technical exchange also addressed the topic of grid integration of distributed energy resources while concrete examples of RES projects and battery-buffered EV charging implemented in Greece were presented.

On the second and last day of the study visit, participants experienced using hydrogen in electric bicycles at the Demokritos National Centre of Scientific Research in Athens, the largest multidisciplinary Research Centre in Greece.
