The Delegation of the European Union issues the following statement together with the diplomatic missions of the EU Member States in Libya:
“We are deeply concerned about the recent military mobilisation and movements, notably in the southwestern region. The use of force would harm stability in Libya and lead to human suffering. It should be avoided at all cost. We call on all parties to engage in dialogue to prevent further division, preserve stability and the ceasefire agreement of 2020, and pursue the interest of the Libyan people as their ultimate goal.
We urge all Libyan actors and armed groups to exercise restraint and urgently de-escalate. We reiterate the EU’s support to UN efforts towards an inclusive, Libyan-led political process.”
