Contributing to the building of a professional, accountable, and effective policing services, is at the core of EUPOL COPPS’s commitment. To strengthen the capacity of Palestinian Police Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and other Palestinian Investigative Departments, EUPOL COPPS organises a three-day Train-of Trainers (ToT) workshop on 15-17 September in Ramallah. Eighteen trainers from PCP Investigative branches participated.

The training, delivered jointly by EUPOL COPPS Police Advisers, Justice Advisers and International experts, focuses on modern teaching methodologies and the development and refinement of training content. International support for the training is provided by experts from the Swedish Police Authority and the bi-lateral MIADIT mission of the Carabinieri, one of Italy’s main Law Enforcement bodies, renowned for its expertise in criminal investigation. The goal is to ensure that future training is comprehensive, up-to-date, and aligned with the real-world challenges faced by investigators in the field, increasing knowledge on how to correctly apply legal provisions on crimes, as defined by the legislative framework.

In her opening speech at the event, EUPOL COPPS Head of Mission, Karin Limdal underlined that this ToT training course will be crucial for the preparation of the specialised CID Training to enhance knowledge of criminalistics, criminology and investigative techniques, a step ahead on supporting the PCP in establishing a PCP  owned Specialized CID Training Program for certifying future Criminal Investigators. The training also contributes to the endeavour of reorganizing the CID towards an integrated department that has capacities available to investigate all types of crimes.
