TunisiaStudents meet Samir Kassir Award nominees in Lebanon thanks to the EU
During the morning of May 30th 2018, students met the nine finalists of the 13th edition of the Samir Kassir Award 2018 at the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs (IFI) in Beirut. They discussed the challenges faced by journalists in Arab countries where the space for free expression is shrinking every day.
The Samir Kassir Award is granted every year by the European Union in association with the Samir Kassir Foundation.
Since 2006, the Samir Kassir Award for Freedom of the Press has become one of the most prestigious journalism prizes in the Arab world. The Samir Kassir Award honors excellence in Arab journalism and rewards courage and professionalism in reporting on issues that are at the heart of the quest for rule of law, democracy, human rights, good governance and public freedoms.
