On Monday, 21 October, the Ambassador of the European Union in Algeria, Mr Diego Mellado Pascua, presented his credentials to the President of the Algerian Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
In a statement following the ceremony, which was held at the Algerian President’s headquarters, Mr Mellado congratulated President Tebboune on his re-election on behalf of the European authorities, and recalled that relations between Algeria and the European Union are “rich, dense and diverse.”
He added that the European Union wishes “to contribute to Algeria’s political stability, to trading exchanges, investments, economic diversification and to extend the scope of relations with Algeria by means of a pact for the Mediterranean.”
The EU Ambassador ended his address by reaffirming that “Algeria is a special, essential and fundamental partner for Europe and for the Member States.”
