The steering committee of the Support Programme to Justice Reform (PARJ) held its 11th meeting on 4 December in Tunis, Tunisia, under the patronage of the Justice minister and the EU Ambassador to Tunisia.
An overview of the projects’ progress was presented: supporting the digitalisation of the Tunisian justice, reinforcing the judicial and prison infrastructures, supporting the implementation of alternative sentences and a probation system, and reinforcing the involvement of civil society in the reform of justice.
The European Union has supported justice reform in Tunisia since 2012. Its objectives are to reinforce the independence and the impartiality of the judicial power and to modernise the infrastructures and the equipment. It also seeks to improve justice quality and efficiency.
