The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced its intention to strengthen its assistance to Tunisia for its public procurement, including through the provision of an expert.
The Bank is already working with the Government of Tunisia for training court directly to members of the Investigation Committee on Public Contracts, created in 2012 for the review of complaints and disputes (transparency, equal treatment of participants and fair competition).
“While the review and remedies procedures established by the new public procurement legislation in Tunisia are rather easy to follow and free of charge, it is not undertaken in a timely manner, due to the bureaucratic character and lack of judicial skills”. It is added.
To improve this situation, EBRD intends to engage a consulting company to assist to design a specific training programme.
