The European Union Ambassador to Tunisia Marcus Cornaro visited Sfax on 18-20 March, with two of his collaborators, for field visits and talks with the government authorities, the private sector and civil society. The visit highlighted the employment opportunities and the potential for development of youth initiatives in particular, as well as the added value of the partnership with the European Union.
In Sfax, Ambassador Cornaro discussed with Governor Anis Oueslati the challenges of regional development and the very diverse cooperation of the EU in the governorate. The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss migration challenges in a spirit of shared responsibility for migration management.
After this interview, the Ambassador went to CHO oil factory, then he visited the Sfax technopole.
In Kerkennah, the ambassador and his staff visited EU-funded projects led by young entrepreneurs.
“Young entrepreneurs are a real asset for Tunisia’s sustainable development”, said Ambassador Cornaro after these visits. “I admire their tenacity and commitment to the constraints they face. The European Union’s support for improving the business climate and economic governance is therefore entirely appropriate.”
