The EU Delegation to Tunisia and the Tunisian government launched yesterday a twinning programme on “Institutional support to strengthen capacities for the development and implementation of inclusive, participatory and long-term agricultural and rural policies”.

This three-year action with a budget of EUR 1.5 million is implemented as part of the EU-funded “Programme to support the Association Agreement and Transition” (P3AT), with the aim of strengthening the Tunisian capacities in the design, implementation and monitoring-evaluation of the agriculture development policies and programmes of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Activities will be organised around two axes:
• Support the implementation of the European Initiative for Agricultural and Rural Development (ENPARD) in Tunisia
• Provide institutional support to better integrate inclusive, participatory and long-term approaches across national policies and agriculture and rural development programmes.
