Turning Waste into Art: Interreg NEXT MED joins EU Beach Cleanup 2024 in Aqaba, Jordan

Over 80 students from six schools, along with community members, participated in the #EUBeachCleanUp 2024 at Aqaba’s Blue Beach. This joint effort, led by the EU in Jordan, UNDP Jordan, Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), and the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, focused on clean up cigarette butts and plastic caps, promoting environmental awareness and sustainability.

 

In a collaborative effort, the European Union in Jordan, UNDP Jordan,  Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), and Interreg NEXT MED Programme proudly carried out the successful #EUBeachCleanUp 2024 at Aqaba’s Blue Beach on 9th Oct 2024.

 

Over 80 students from six schools in Aqaba, alongside the Lady of Peace Center for People with Disabilities, participated in the cleanup of cigarette butts and plastic caps, demonstrating the power of community engagement in protecting our marine environment.

 

We extend our gratitude to the Governorate of Aqaba, Aqaba Marine Reserve, Civil Defense Directorate – Aqaba, Royal Jordanian Navy, Directorate of Education for Aqaba, and the Royal Department for Environmental Protection for their support.
