UfM to organise Networking Event in Kuala Lumpur

The UfM Secretariat is organising the Networking Event “Towards implementing the New Urban Agenda in the Euro-Mediterranean Region”, on the margins of the World Urban Forum (WUF9-Kuala Lumpur), in cooperation with the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB).

This Networking Event which will take place in Kuala Lumpur on 10 February 2018 from 9h00 to 11h00 AM, will bring together several UN agencies and other key partner organisations and IFIs, such as UN WOMEN, UNDP, UNEP, UNESCO, OECD, World Bank , GIZ and the UITP, as well as urban development actors and potential partners active in the Euro-Mediterranean region, with a view to generating new and innovative ideas and building momentum to effectively advance the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the region.

The UfM Networking Event shall also aim at:

  1. Raising awareness about the UfM Urban Agenda, adopted at the Second UfM Ministerial Conference on Sustainable Urban Development in Cairo in May 2017.
  2. Increasing synergies and coordination amongst key actors, with a view to fostering linkages between the UfM Urban Agenda, the European, the Arab, and the New Urban Agendas.
  3. Exchanging views on innovative financing mechanisms for priority projects and initiatives to advance Sustainable Urban Development in the region.
