This series of virtual meetings aims to provide a regional platform for experts, organisations and members of the civil society from across the Euro-Mediterranean region to share ideas, solutions and collaboration paths to face the COVID-19 pandemic in different sectors and fields of activity. The discussions will take place online and will be livestreamed on the UfM website (https://ufmsecretariat.org/) and on the ;UfM’s Facebook page.;

The first webinar, “The Euro-Mediterranean Youth Voluntary response to the COVID-19 crisis” was held on 14 May. It was an occasion for youth hailing from the Euro-Mediterranean region to share their experiences in the voluntary sector, what initiatives they are taking to help those mostly at risk as a response to the pandemic.

The next webinar will take place on 20 May: “Economic Opportunities and Skills in the Post-Pandemic Horizon: Reasons for Hope”. Social, Digital, Creative and Blue Economy are some of the sectors that will be presented, and the discussion will focus on such skills-for-the-near-future like entrepreneurial resilience, cognitive flexibility and digital literacy, among others.

A third webinar is scheduled on 27 May: “Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Ports and Maritime Transport in the Mediterranean Region.” One of the issues to be discussed is the impacts of the current global pandemic on maritime transport and port connectivity in the Mediterranean region.
