A web conference on the theme “Blue Economy: challenges, opportunities and priorities for Morocco” will be held on 11 November. This national event is organised with the support of WestMED Initiative’s assistance mechanisms. It aims at coordinating with directly concerned national entities, regional partners and international experts to agree on a judicious and appropriate approach in order to set up a national roadmap which identifies needs and proposes solutions to meet the challenges of the Decade for a sustainable and resilient blue economy. The conference is in line with the dynamics advocated by the WestMED Initiative for the sustainable development of the blue economy in the Western Mediterranean.
The WestMED Initiative has been created to help public institutions, academia, local communities, small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs from both sides of the Western Mediterranean develop local and regional maritime projects together. It gathers the 10 countries that constitute the 5+5 Dialogue (France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Malta and five Southern partner countries – Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia) around three common goals: a safer and more secure maritime space, a smart and resilient blue economy by 2022 and a better governance of the sea.
