This February, the EU funded YEP MED project resumed its training programme activities in Beirut by launching its second edition of the Vocational Occupational training programme in port logistics. The training attracted 70 Lebanese young men and women who showed interest and engagement in shaping their blue skills in port logistics arena and hoped to prepare themselves to ensure a better employability and get better job opportunities in this sector.
Organised by the Chamber of Commerce of Beirut and Mount Lebanon, the YEP MED programme introduced the participants to the Lebanese maritime sector and the port of Beirut, its customs services, supply chain management, international regulations, freight forwarding, shipping lines and multimodal chain characteristics. Over the four days, participants explored each elaborated module and analysed many related practical cases with specialist trainers.
Participants who would attend the full training programme will be awarded the YEP MED certificate of completion signed by the Beirut Chamber.
The YEP MED project is funded by the European Union’s ENI CBC MED Programme. It aims to develop methods of vocational training in the ports and logistics sector to meet and match the labour market skills needs in the Mediterranean port communities, therewith contributing to jobs creation for the youth and women as well as facilitating productive economic growth.
