On Thursday, 16 October 2025, Clima-Med concluded its final engagement during a landmark training session in Egypt with the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Housing. This interactive event brought together representatives from six pioneering new cities to move ahead with their Sustainable Energy Access and Climate Action Plans (SEACAPs).

Sadat City, October Gardens, New Damietta, New Nubaria, Sheikh Zayed City, and Capital Gardens City each presented with both ambition and realism, having worked closely with Clima-Med to develop comprehensive draft SEACAPs that could reshape their environmental futures across solid wastemanagement, water, energy, and transport. Their presentations outlined proposed projects, key barriers – institutional, technical, financial, or social – priority actions distinguishing quick wins from long-term strategies, required expertise and funding, stakeholder engagement plans, and identified capacity gaps within teams and municipalities.

The event embodied the mission of the Central Unit for Sustainable Cities and Renewable Energy: translating Egypt’s Vision 2030 into concrete local action, building resilience to climate change through integrated approaches across sectors. The six NUCA cities are now equipped with draft SEACAPs, a network of peer cities facing similar challenges, and clear pathways toward finalising their SEACAPs. The collaborative spirit and practical SEACAP Preparation Manual provided during this session will continue to support Egypt’s urban communities as they advance their climate resilience and sustainability goals.
