The majority of the cybercriminals are financially driven, and the crime proceeds are thus generated – and often laundered – on the Internet and through the use of information and communication technologies.
The CyberSouth project helps the priority countries develop their capacities to target on-line crime proceeds. It is with this in mind that the report “Situation report on cybercrime and money laundering on the internet”was drawn up.
CyberSouth is a joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe. It contributes to the prevention and control of cybercrime and other offences involving electronic evidence in the region of the Southern Neighbourhood, in line with international human rights and rule of law standards and good practices.
