In the framework of the EU-funded project CSO-WINS, political dialogues on sexual harassment and verbal violence against women will be held on 20, 27 and 29 April in Algeria. The debates and meetings will take place in three districts of the province of Guelma, Algeria, with elected representatives of municipal councils, the popular assembly of the province and parliament deputies of those regions, together with representatives of civil society, security and justice services, lawyers and the media.

The purpose of these debates is to follow up the 2015 law on violence against women as well as the measures to be implemented in order to eliminate sexual harassment and verbal violence against women in public spaces.

The CSO WINS project (Capacity-building in the Southern Mediterranean to Open Policy Dialogue and Monitoring for Women in Society) targets local associations in order to strengthen their ability to mobilise public opinion with the aim of asserting women’s rights and encourage them to monitor women-related policies in the political, professional and social sectors at a local, national and Euro-Mediterranean level. It is funded by the Neighbourhood Civil Society Facility in the framework of the European Neighbourhood Instrument, and implemented by the European Institute of the Mediterranean through the Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation.
