The EU-funded OPEN Media Hub programme is organising an advanced training and production workshop for online journalists from Jordan, taking place on 29-30-31 October and on 13-15 November.
The workshop will focus on the development of skills for online reporting and the use of pictures and video for online and mobile, and is being carried out in cooperation with the Jordanian Press Association.
The training will be led by Mark Webster, the senior editorial consultant of Thomson Foundation, former news editor and international correspondent of The Financial Times, ITV and Channel Five news, working with Jordanian trainer Nader Daoud, a professional photographer and expert in photojournalism, video journalism and visual storytelling.
During the two parts of the training and in the period between them the trainers will work with the participants on the development and dissemination of real life stories with the implementation of the advanced reporting skills and tools presented at the workshop.
The OPEN Media Hub project, funded under the OPEN Neighbourhood Programme, aims at creating a virtual media hub spanning the two regions, in order to contribute to the development of independent media and to a more accurate presentation of EU policies in the Neighbourhood regions, through the creation of a network of journalists. The OPEN Media Hub will provide skills to journalists and media managers through the fostering of professional networks, the provision of hands-on workshops, of journalist exchanges and support to audio-visual and online production.
