From 4 to 14 September 2025, Tunisian craftsmanship is shining at the Arab World Institute in Paris through the exhibition “Tunisian Handicrafts, a Heritage in Motion”. Organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) as part of the Creative Tunisia project, in partnership with the National Handicrafts Office of Tunisia, the exhibition highlights the vitality and innovation of Tunisia’s artisanal heritage. As part of Paris Design Week 2025 and held in parallel with the Arab World Institute’s Design Prize, this exhibition offers an exceptional showcase of contemporary Tunisian creation, giving an international audience a fresh perspective on the richness and dynamism of its craft traditions.
In this context, the Creative Tunisia project, represented by Project Manager Talel Sahmim, took part in the roundtable “Strengthening the Creative Economy in the Arab Region”. Bringing together an international panel, the discussion shed light on the potential of Tunisia’s handicraft sector and examined the drivers and challenges of the creative economy across the Arab world. The exchanges particularly emphasized the key role of design and innovation in promoting sustainable development, valuing cultural heritage, and diversifying the economy. Through inspiring examples and collaborative models, the session fostered a constructive dialogue between designers, investors, academics, and cultural leaders, building bridges between global trends and local realities and outlining concrete strategies for the future of the region’s orange creative economy.
